Firelord – Among The Snakes

Firelord – Among The Snakes
Self released – 2013
Rock, Stoner, Doom, Seventies
Rated: ****

If their 2011 EP The Burning was meant as a calling card to let the world know that Firelord was back on earth. Their new full-sized album Among The Snakes is a flag waving battle cry aiming to scare the living daylights out of all opposing the inevitable victory of Firelord and it’s seventies doom inspired heavy rock. The record is filled with massive power trio stoner rock cruisers and one doom metal battleship. For the eleven-minute middle track The Ghost Of Eymerich slows down and goes for that evil sounding bone rattling gore. The rest of the tracks are made up out of five fast moving ships looking for the quick kills. And then there’s the dangerous submarine lurking near the end. A cover version of Black Sabbaths Children Of The Grave. It might deliver that nuclear payload and take out all oncomers of just slip away undetected. That’s for the listener to decide. The rest is not. Cause the verdict was out a few seconds after the rattlesnake intro got your ears peaked and your skin crawling; Firelord is here to rule the world!
